CRC University of Belize Intern Program

How It Works

The CRC is committed to fostering the next generation of environmental leaders by providing the mentorship needed to build a strong scientific foundation to pursue a career in conservation and wildlife research.  In partnership with the University of Belize, the CRC provides 1-2 Belizean students an opportunity to participate in a 7-10 week intense research program to build their skills in conservation biology, but most importantly, how to then implement the scientific research into wildlife policy and management (= translational ecology). It is anticipated that all projects performed will provide important and applicable information to the Forest Department in their wildlife management policies, and lead to scientific publication.

The CRC anticipates that the CRC/UB Internship Program will empower students pursuing a career in science, providing the confidence and knowledge needed to successfully pursue higher education, utilizing their new knowledge and expertise to assist in wildlife conservation and environmental issues in Belize in conjunction to giving them the tools to get a job in conservation. (FUN FACT: Our Research Biologist Jonathan Triminio was our 2018 UB Scholar!).

This internship opportunity is funded through local and international businesses. All sponsors are highlighted in all media associated with the CRC/UB Internship Program and will be acknowledged in any publications associated with the research of the intern. If you are interested in sponsoring or supporting this program, please contact us!
