Wow- what a day!  First, I nervously twitch my thumbs and legs as I see if anyone will contribute to my sci-fund project.  I emailed a few people dear and close to me.  Right when I thought no one would contribute – boom!!!!  $70 in total and that means a lot to me!  Every little penny counts and that is soooo true in scientific research.  I got so excited-yes I do have some fear in me still of whether or not I will reach my goal, but it is so good to know that there are people out there supportive of what I am doing.

More excitement in the lab today on multiple levels.  An undergraduate and I working together on identifying nematodes in Alligators as well as in Mexican crocodilians have completed the process up to genus- now just to identify to species!  And it is highly probable that we may see new species or hosts for nematodes in the Mexican crocodilians.  Very exciting!

I am a researcher who feels that when the students have less pressure, they learn more and have fun with science.  Thus the occasional treats I bring to my assistants, random youtube breaks, music jamming, or for the other sci-fi nerd buffs, sci-fi tv series.  At the moment we are watching Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica- what an amazing show!!!!!  Although I still have a special place in my heart for Stargate SG-1 as the main bad guys are parasites!!!!
